To the editor:
In our country, the United States of America, many people pray to God when there are tragedies and believe that even little children are God's children, lovingly received into HIs kingdom of eternal life. when their earthly life ends, through faith in God's Son Jesus. (John 5:5)
Yet, many people look to themselves to determine what is right and wrong instead of looking to God. Under the headline "New conservatives lobbying push for gay marriage" (4/29/13), is the comment, "What you have is the network of influential Republicans who really want to see the party embrace the freedom to marry and believe it's not only the right thing for the country but also good politics." Jeff Cook-McCormac gave this statement.
In the Bible, John wrote under inspiration of the Holy Sprit, "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us." and "This is love for God to obey his commands." (I John 3:16 and 5:3).
How is marriage described in the Bible? Jesus said, "Haven't you read that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female?" Jesus was quoting from the first book of the Bible, from the account of creation in Genesis 1:27. Jesus continued, "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh." (Matthew 19:4,5)
Good politics or not, God does not condone same sex unions. (Romans 1:18-32) Let us honor our Creator and Savior, and live according to God's wisdom and Word..
