LUVERNE, Minn. (AP) — Bail has been set at $20,000 for a South Dakota man charged with criminal vehicular homicide in a crash that killed a Minnesota mother who was out for a bicycle ride with her two young children.
According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday, Christopher Weber, of Madison, South Dakota, was checking his smartphone and trying to navigate mobile banking options as he drove along Highway 270 in southwestern Minnesota.
The complaint says his pickup drifted onto the shoulder, killing 33-year-old Andrea Boeve (BOO'-vee), of Steen, about a quarter-mile from her home.
Boeve was pulling her daughters n a passenger trailer. The 4-year-old suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung and the 1-year-old had minor injuries.
