Congratulations to SMSU women's golfer Marissa Campeau, who was named the NSIC golfer of the week for her performance at the Green and Gold Classic on Sunday and Monday in St. Joseph, Mo., and Maryville, Mo.
Campeau, a native of Grantsburg, Wisc., finished in seventh place with a 21-over-par 165 at the 10-team tournament hosted by Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western State. Campeau finished the first round with an 85, then shot an 80 in the final round, tying for the fifth lowest round of the day. Campeau is the second SMSU golfer to earn the award this season, joining Krista Weiszhaar who earned the award on April 3.
The Mustang Booster Club is gearing up for their 2013-14 membership drive which will be starting in mid-May. The top priority for the Mustang Booster Club is to raise athletic scholarship dollars for SMSU athletics. The membership drive is the fundraising event that generates the most revenue for the booster club each year. If you are interested in participating on one of our membership drive teams, please contact Tim Steinbach in the SMSU Department of Athletics at 537-7204.

This Week in Mustang Athletics:
The SMSU baseball team (10-20-1, 5-10 NSIC) went 1-6 earlier this week playing Minnesota State-Mankato four games and the University of Sioux Falls twice in Sioux City, Iowa. The Mustangs have a bye this weekend and will resume NSIC play versus Concordia-St. Paul. The games were scheduled to be played on April 24 in St. Paul, but will now be played on April 25 in Minnetonka. The doubleheader will begin at 9 a.m. at Veterans Field on the campus of Minnetonka High School.
The SMSU softball team (14-16, 7-11 NSIC) also played six games earlier this week in Sioux City, going 3-3 over the three days; winning two versus Minnesota-Crookston, splitting with Bemidji State and dropping a pair to Augustana College. The Mustangs are on the road this weekend traveling to Winona State and Upper Iowa this Saturday and Sunday.
The SMSU tennis team (3-13, 2-10 NSIC) split last weekend's matches defeating Bemidji State 7-2, before dropping a 6-3 decision to Minnesota-Crookston. SMSU is set to close out the regular season on Saturday, hosting Minnesota-Morris at the Marshall High School courts.
The SMSU women's golf team will compete this Saturday and Sunday in the third and fourth rounds of the NSIC Championship at Paradise Pointe Golf Club (Posse Course) in Smithville, Mo. This weekend's two rounds were originally scheduled to be played at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton, but were forced to move due to unplayable conditions.
The first two rounds of the championship were played at The Classic at Madden's in Brainerd, on Oct. 6-7, 2012. SMSU currently sits in seventh place in the 13-team championship with a two-round score of 160-over-par 736. Augustana leads the championship with a 70-over 646 and holds a 50-shot lead over Minnesota State-Mankato.
Allie Ostrander from Augustana is the individual leader at 11-over 155. SMSU's Rachel Patnoe is currently in a tie for 23rd place with a 37-over 181, while Krista Weiszhaar is in a tie for 25th place with a 39-over 183. The third round begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday with a shotgun start, while Sunday's final round begins at 8 a.m. The Mustangs are coming off a fifth place finish at the 10-team Green and Gold Classic played in Missouri this past Sunday and Monday.
