A first-round team score of 357 put the Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team in fourth place after Day 1 of the 10-team, two-day Green and Gold Shootout, which is co-hosted by Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western State.
Sunday's opening round was played at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo., and today's final round will be played at Mozingo Golf Club in Maryville, Mo.
Central Oklahoma holds the lead after an opening-round score of 313. Nebraska-Kearney is in second place, 31 strokes back, while Missouri Western State is in third after shooting a 350.
Aly Seng, of Central Oklahoma, shot the low round of the day with a 3-over 75.
SMSU was led by Krista Weiszhaar and Marissa Campeau, who are both tied for ninth after shooting 13-over rounds of 85. Abby Gruber is in a tie for 20th place with a 90, Haley Gudim sits in a tie for 40th after a 97, and Rachel Patnoe is tied for 47th following a Day 1 score of 99.
Today's final round begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start.
