MARSHALL - Mass of Christian Burial for Jean Chandler, 85, of Marshall, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today with a CCW Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.

She died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Avera Morningside Heights Memory Care Unit in Marshall after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Jean was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Walnut Grove to Henry and Jessie (Harbo) Buysse. Jean graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1945. She and John Chandler were married April 30, 1949, in Green Valley. They had four children. Jean started working outside of the home after the last of her four children were in school. She started at Southwest Minnesota State College when it opened and worked until her retirement in 1990. During her life, she had been active in the Holy Redeemer Church guild and sang in the choir. She enjoyed walking, aerobics, crocheting afghans and cross stitch needlework.

Survivors include her husband, John; children Charles (and Linda) of Hager City, Wis., Bruce of Stockholm, Wis., Jeanine Schweer of Marshall and Jamie (and Rick) Kiefer of Zumbrota; sisters Janet Lindsey of Marshall and Ruth Mae Post of Cottonwood; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Jessie Buysse, brother Marvin, infant brother Bruce, and one grandchild.

Memorials will be donated to Alzheimer's research.
