MARSHALL - Mass of Christian Burial for Howard Bromen, 92, of Marshall, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. Military honors will be provided by Marshall American Legion Post 113. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday with a 4 p.m. CCW Rosary and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall.

Howard died Monday, March 4, 2013, unexpectedly at his home.

Howard Leo Bromen was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Minneota to Anton and Cecilia Bromen. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Boerboom on Aug. 7, 1945, and they spent 67 wonderful years together. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 in the South Pacific.

He graduated from Minneota High School in 1939 and attended Dunwoody for two years before pursuing a career in 1941. Howard was a service tech for IBM and later on his own before purchasing Baldwin's Office Supply in 1969 and owned and operated Bromen Office Supply until his retirement. Howard gave many hours of community service to the community of Marshall, which included Rotary, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and Jaycees. He attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church since 1950. Howard and Dorothy spent 20 years creating many memories with family and friends at their lake home on Lake Amelia. You could find Howard playing cards, golfing, or laughing with friends over a cup of coffee.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Bromen of Marshall; son, Bruce (and Sharon) of Elk River; daughter, Susan Bromen of Marshall; son, Brian (and Melissa) of Marshall; four grandchildren, Melinda Meier, Steve Blanchette, Matthew Bromen, and Rachel Bromen; six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Jack and Sam Meier, Evan and Harper Blanchette; sisters, Leona Wielde, Jinny VanRobays, Doris Claeys, Joan (and Norman) Bot, Cecelia "Nonny" Fier.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
