February 28, 2013
By Karin Elton , Marshall Independent

MARSHALL?-?Bruce Lamprecht and Bruce Remme were all smiles Wednesday morning at Marshall High School. Lamprecht, business services director for Marshall Public Schools, and Remme, activities director, received a check from Viking Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in the amount of $4,189.46 to be used in the activities department.

Viking Coca-Cola has donated a portion of its sales of the products, Powerade and Powerade Zero, back to participating area high schools under a program called "Powerade 4 Schools."

"The funds have been dedicated to the activities department," said Lamprecht. "We welcome this gift to support all activities at the school. We are very appreciative of this money."

In times of tight budgets, "every little bit helps," Lamprecht said.

Money was collected on all Powerade and Powerade Zero products sold throughout the Viking Coca-Cola Bottling Co. territory.

"Thanks to the community for supporting this program," said Remme. "We promoted this opportunity to the community and they came through."

Other area schools that received money from the Powerade 4 Schools program include Tracy Area High School, $1.761.86; Lakeview High School, $1,480.66; Minneota High School, $679.74; Canby High School, $1,330.74; Wabasso High School, $1.217.68; Westbrook-Walnut Grove High School, $743.43.

"All the communities deserve much credit as well for supporting their schools just by enjoying a Powerade beverage," said Deb Severson, cold drink account manager.
