Boys' Basketball

Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 66, Wabasso 63

The Wabasso Rabbits battled back from a 12-point halftime deficit and had their Tomahawk Conference boys' basketball game with Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart tied late. The Mustangs, however, knocked down a 3-pointer with three seconds to play while Wabasso turned the ball over on the inbounds, sealing a 66-63 defeat in Wabasso on Monday.

Neil Eichten hit six 3s and poured in 38 points for the Rabbits, while Seth Guetter added 10 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Tanner Bock chipped in with five points and 13 rebounds.

Four Mustangs reached double figures scoring, led by Tate Lange's 17-point effort. Tyler Pagenkopf added 15 points, while Kyle Kubesh and Mason Clark chipped in 14 and 13 points respectively.

The Rabbits (8-11 overall, 5-6 Tomahawk), who trailed 37-25 at halftime, are back in action on Thursday as they host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop.

Dawson-Boyd 75, Renville County West 37

Joey Lee scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while leading the No. 10 (Class A) Dawson-Boyd boys' basketball team to a 75-37 Camden Conference win over Renville County West in Dawson on Monday.

Lee also added five steals in the Blackjacks' win, while Nathaniel Huot scored 15 points to go along with his seven assists, six rebounds and four steals. Michael Lee added 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, as Kyler Collins chipped in with eight points, six boards and three steals.

Mitch Treml scored 20 of RCW's 37 total points for the game, while Griffin Schaub added eight points in the losing effort.

The Blackjacks (15-3 overall, 10-2 Camden) will look to make it four wins in a row when they host MACCRAY on Thursday.

Windom 54, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 39

A cold night shooting cost the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys' basketball team, as they fell to the Windom Area Eagles 54-39 in a non-conference game in Tracy on Monday.

Windom led TMB 25-22 at halftime and held the Panthers to 34 percent shooting from the field for the game.

The Eagles were paced by Nathan Remmers 18 points, while Collin Lovell added 15 to the winning cause.

Parker Lanoue led the Panthers in scoring with 12 points and was the only TMB player to break the five-point barrier. Josh Kirk ended the game with five points, six rebounds and four steals in defeat.

TMB (5-12 overall) travels to Ivanhoe on Thursday for a Camden Conference tilt with Lincoln HI in its next contest.

Girls' Basketball

Wabasso 69, Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 39

Behind 51 rebounds and 52 first half points, the Wabasso girls' basketball team picked up its 11th win in a row after defeating Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 69-39 in Hector on Monday.

Chelsey Guetter's 18 points led the scoring charge for Wabasso, while Ellen Franta and Desi Kramer each added 11 points. Kramer also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds in the win for the Rabbits. Kimberly Frank chipped in with seven points and seven assists.

Michelle Melsha led the Mustangs in scoring with 11 points, while Ashley Tintes and Mara Olinger scored 10 points each.

Wabasso (19-2 overall, 12-1 Tomahawk Conference) is back on the court tonight as the Rabbits host Windom Area.

Yellow Medicine East 48, Renville County West 39

Chyanne Sand's 12-point, 18-rebound double-double powered the Yellow Medicine East Sting to a 48-39 non-conference girls' basketball victory over Renville County West in Granite Falls on Monday.

Sand added seven steals in the win. Kelly Anderson chipped in seven points and 10 rebounds to the winning effort, while Cassie Struffert went for eight points and seven rebounds.

Sadie Treml was the only Jaguar to crack double figures scoring, posting 10 points to go with her 11 rebounds and four assists. Morgan Zaske scored eight points in defeat and also pulled down 11 boards.

YME (3-16 overall) returns to the court tonight in search of its first West Central Conference win when the Sting travel to Madison to face Lac qui Parle Valley.
