MOORHEAD - Services for James Ray Pearcy Sr., 78 of Moorhead are with Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, N.D.
He died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo, N.D., after a courageous battle with cancer.
James was born Oct. 18, 1934, in Lynd, the son of Ray L. and Rosella Pearcy. He joined the U.S. Navy in January of 1952. He married Gloria Skogan on Dec. 31, 1956. They started their family in the Marshall area and moved to Moorhead a few years later. James was an iron worker and was a member of the Iron and Steel Workers Union, participating in building projects throughout the United States. He retired in the Moorhead and Colorado areas. He spent the last few years in Tyler and moved back to Moorhead in 2010. James enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving family members include: brothers, Clayton (and Carol) Pearcy of Marshall and David (and Carrie) Pearcy of Tyler; sister, Janice (and John) Steinle of Balaton; sons, James (and Mia) Pearcy Jr. of Moorhead and Darin (and Kristin) Pearcy of Thief River Falls; daughter, Brenda (and Bear) Fuller of Shoshone, Wyo.; grandchildren, April Martinez of Pueblo, Colo., Brock and Sara Pearcy of Moorhead and Raquel Pearcy, Ethan Johnson and Kate Johnson of Thief River Falls; great-grandchildren, Owen Pearcy of Moorhead and Elijah and Gabriella Martinez of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Rosella Pearcy, brother, Loren Pearcy, and sister, Sharon Buchholtz.
