RTR 59, MCC 48

Leslie Willert poured in 21 points to propel the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton girls' basketball team past Murray County Central 59-48 Friday night in a non-conference game in Slayton.

Willert was joined in double figures scoring by Destinee Strand (13 points) and Kaylie Nielsen (11).

Murray County Central's Jade Giese had a solid all-around performance in the losing effort. She scored 10 points with five rebounds, three assists and four steals. Jenna Ness had 11 points and eight rebounds for MCC, and Taylor Schreier added 10 points.

MCC drops to 0-2 after the loss and will host Fulda Tuesday. The Knights improve to 2-0 and will play Adrian today in Tyler.

Pipestone 66, TMB 64 (OT)

The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton girls' basketball team erased a 12-point halftime deficit to tie Pipestone at 55 at the end of regulation, but the Arrows bounced back to win 66-64 in overtime Friday night in Tracy.

Amanda Haupert led the charge for the Arrows, drilling five 3-pointers for 15 points while also pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out four assists. Kelli Nettik led Pipestone with 17 points on the night, and Bianca Claussen scored 14 for the Arrows.

TMB got a big game from Cassie Hook in the losing effort. She hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points with four assists and three steals. Jenna Stoneberg chipped in 14 points and five rebounds.

TMB (0-1 overall) will play Windom on Tuesday.

Wabasso 89, WWG 50

The Wabasso girls' basketball team bounced back nicely from its season-opening loss to Minneota on Friday against Westbrook-Walnut Grove. The Rabbits pounced on the Chargers early and ran away with an 89-50 victory in a non-conference game played in Westbrook.

Chelsey Guetter led the Rabbits (1-1 overall) with 23 points, and also had six rebounds and five steals. Kimberly Frank also had a strong night, hitting three 3-pointers and scoring 17 points to go along with nine rebounds, five assists and six steals.

Desi Kramer joined Frank and Guetter in double figures scoring with 12 points.

WWG got 11 points from Elizabeth Woelber and Paige Erickson. Erickson also had six rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Wabasso will play its home opener Dec. 7 against New Ulm Cathedral, while WWG (0-2 overall) will face Red Rock Central Tuesday in Jeffers.

Minneota 73, Ortonville 30

Taylor Reiss had 29 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three blocks to help lead the fifth-ranked Minneota girls' basketball team to a 73-30 blowout win over Ortonville Friday night in Minneota.

The Vikings (2-0 overall) held a 42-12 lead at the half.

Michelle Jerzak added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Vikings, while Emily Stienessen tallied 10 points and two blocked shots.

Brenna Giese and Rebecca Peterson each scored 10 points for Ortonville.

Minneota will play another home game on Tuesday when the Vikings host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.

The Lakeview girls' basketball team held Cedar Mountain/Comfrey scoreless in overtime to pull out a 51-44 non-conference win Friday night in Cedar Mountain.

Allison Boerboom had a big night for the Lakers in the win, scoring 22 points and grabbing 15 boards. Brianna Hoffman added seven points, 13 boards and two blocks.

The Lakers outrebounded the Cougars 57-44.

Lakeview improves to 2-1 after the victory and will play at Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Tuesday.
