Worldwide Candle Lighting services Dec. 9
The Marshall Chapter of The Compassionate Friends will participate in an annual worldwide event designed to honor the memories of children, regardless of age, who have died. The chapter is joining hundreds of organized memorial services around the world for The Compassionate Friends' annual Worldwide Candle Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 9.
The local candle lighting will be part of a special service at 7 p.m. Dec. 9, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 1301 S. 4th St. in Marshall and will feature a message of hope, readings and music. Annually tens of thousands of families, united in loss, light candles during the Worldwide Candle Lighting the second Sunday in December. As candles burn down in one time zone, they are lighted in the next, creating a 24-hour wave of light as the observance continues around the world. Candles will be provided. Bring a photo or memory to share of your child, grandchild or sibling at the fellowship following the service. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
