IVANHOE - Mass of Christian Burial for Marcellus "Marcey" Sik, 68, of Ivanhoe will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and rosary at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery in Wilno. Birk Funeral Home of Ivanhoe is entrusted with the arrangements.
He died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at his home in Ivanhoe.
Marcellus Harry Sik was born Dec. 20, 1943, to Paul and Martha (Panka) Sik in Lincoln County. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno. He attended country school in Marble Township. He graduated from Minnesota West Technical College with a diploma for diesel mechanics.
Marcellus was united in marriage to Clara Ratajczak on June 30, 1964, at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno. To this union they were blessed with seven children.
He enjoyed working on cars, doing handy work around the home, playing cards, dancing the Polka, and visiting with his family and friends. He enjoyed his grandchildren very much. He was a truck driver most of his working days and had been in almost every state in the U.S. He drove truck for various companies and eventually bought his own rig. He retired in 2003 due to illness.
Marcellus was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Ivanhoe and a member of the Knights of Columbus reaching Fourth Degree status.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Sik of Ivanhoe; his seven children, Randall (and Lisa) Sik of Tyler, Wesley (and Rebecca) of Lucan, Sheila (and Tom) Tykwinski of Marshall, Victoria (and John) Hauswedell of Minneota, Rodney Sik of Ivanhoe, Renae (and Nick) Mihelich of Fargo, N.D., and Rebecca (and Kenny) McMahon of Minneota; 17 grandchildren: Ryan, Amy, Travis, Olivia, James, and Ethan Sik, Jessica (and Mike) Stowman, Stacey, Shawn, Jaelyn Tykwinski, Tim and Jenna Czech, Eric, Heidi, Grant and Jody Hauswedell, and Brittaney McMahon; his sisters and brothers, Dorothy Citrowske of Canby, Emil (and Madie) Sik of Canby, Gertrude (and Roman) Bach of Canby, Cecelia (and Wayne) Thompson of Rochester, Robert (and Peggy) Sik of Canby and Tony (and Joan) Sik of Watertown, S.D.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Martha Sik; brothers James and Clarence; two grandchildren, Wesley Sik, Jr. and Trevor McMahon.
