To the editor:
This year's American Education Week - Nov. 11-17, 2012 - millions of educators, parents, students, and community leaders across the nation will join in raising awareness about the critical need to provide every child with a quality public education. As Directors of the Board of Education, we want to acknowledge and honor those who make Marshall Public Schools the great system it is. This week the community of Marshall has a wonderful opportunity to public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education.
Each individual that assists in our public schools enhances our students' education from maintenance and custodial staff, cafeteria workers, secretaries, classroom aides and bus drivers to the classroom teachers, principals and administrators. The School Board salutes each of these individuals for the work they do to make a difference in the education of all our students. You make schools great for every child!
The theme for this year is, "Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility" which is a calling for all Americans to do their part in making public schools great for every child so that they can grow and achieve in the 21st century. Take time during this week to acknowledge those working in the public school system of Marshall. We are most proud of all they do to "develop the potential of each learner for success in a changing world."
