RTR 3, TMB 0
The two Camden Conference representatives in the 3A South sub-section tournament met in Luverne on Friday as Tracy-Milroy-Balaton faced off against Russell-Tyler-Ruthton. RTR avenged a 3-1 defeat from Sept. 27 with a decisive 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 victory over the Panthers on Friday.
Janel Wichern had 21 digs and 10 kills for the fifth-seeded Knights, while Leslie Willert had 11 kills and 16 digs. Destinee Strand chipped in with three aces on 11 of 13 serving, and also had 15 set assists. Dana Schaefer had eight blocks to spur the Knights for the upset.
Jenna Stoneberg had four blocks and was 8 of 9 serving with an ace for the fourth-seeded Panthers. Sammie Gervais was 11-for-11 serving with an ace, while she and Kassidy Przymus tied for the TMB lead with six kills and 14 digs each.
The loss wraps up TMB's season with a 13-15 record overall. RTR (18-12 overall) advances to face Southwest Minnesota Christian at 6 p.m. in Luverne on Tuesday.

With a 3-1 victory on Friday night, Red Rock Central repaid Westbrook-Walnut Grove for a 3-2 defeat a fortnight ago. The Falcons took the final three sets from the second-seeded Chargers to pick up the 18-25, 25-15, 26-24, 25-17 victory in the 3A-South sub-section playoffs.
A trio of seniors ensured the Falcons would move on, as Katie Larsen, Tegan Derickson and Chloe Arfsten all had excellent nights.
Larsen had 10 kills, tied with Cassandra Erickson for the team lead, to go with 3.5 blocks and three aces on 18-for-19 serving. Derikcson was a team best 23-for-26 serving, also with three aces, while picking up 11 digs, eight kills, and tallying 20 set assists. Arfsten, meanwhile, had eight kills and a team-best 18 digs.
The Falcons (14-12 overall) will face Southwestern United on Tuesday in Luverne for the 3A South semifinals. The Cougars, on the other hand, finish the year 22-7 overall.

Dawson-Boyd 3, MACCRAY 2
Third-seeded Dawson-Boyd survived a showdown with sixth-seeded MACCRAY Friday night in Granite Falls. The Blackjacks emerged with a narrow 3-2 win over the Wolverines, 21-25, 25-20, 25-21, 27-29, 16-14, to advance to the sub-section semifinals in Marshall on Tuesday.
Mari Lee had 25 kills and two ace blocks for the Blackjacks, leading in both categories. Justine Lee had 13 kills to go with four service aces and 25 digs. Kylie Schuelke led the way defensively with 48 digs, while Justine Flattum had 32 to accompany her 24 set assists. Andrea Lee led Dawson-Boyd with 30 assists.
The Blackjacks (20-6 overall) return to the court face off against second-seeded Canby at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the R/A Facility on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall.

The Canby Lancers had little trouble advancing in the Section 3A-North tournament, as they sailed past Renville County West 25-15, 25-10, 25-14 Friday night in Granite Falls.
Taylor Gorder had a match-high 17 kills to lead the Lancers offensively. Kristy Schmidt orchestrated the attack with 27 set assists.
Tara Kockelman and Hannah Jessen each had a strong night defensively for Canby. Kockelman had 10 digs, while Jessen tallied nine digs to go with her two ace serves. Ricki Kallhoff took care of the defense at the net with a pair of ace blocks.
Canby, the No. 2 seed in the sub-section, moves to 19-10-1 overall on the season and advances to face No. 3 seed Dawson-Boyd Tuesday at Southwest Minnesota State University. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Yellow Medicine East volleyball saw its season come to a close after falling to Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 25-18, 25-17, 25-11 in Winthrop Friday night.
Kalli Knudson was 5 of 5 serving with a pair of aces and six set assists in Section 3AA playoff loss. Chyanne Sand led the Sting with seven kills and three blocks, while Danie Roden had a team-high 15 digs.
Sydney Fromm had an all-around night for the Thunderbirds, seeded second in the North sub-section. The senior setter was 17-for-17 from the service line with an ace and had 20 set assists. She also picked up 11 digs for GFW.
The loss ends the season for the Sting, who finish with a 3-22 overall. GFW advances to the subsection semifinals, where it will play host to Montevideo on Tuesday night.
