To the editor:
There has been a lot of concern over the photo ID in the last few days. I have been an election judge for many years. It is very confusing when several residents come to vote from the same address. A voter ID would be very helpful. I have read comments on the supposed added cost of having photo ID. I don't feel there has been much concern before for the cost of elections.
Several years ago it was decided by the Secretary of State office that all precincts must have at least four election judges at all times. (Cost?) In the last election in our township just counting election judges' salary (not counting judges' training costs), it costs our township $44 per vote. Therefore I do not feel the added cost of having photo ID would be much of a concern. In most cases you need a photo ID to do many things such as travel, purchase liquor, tobacco, some use of credit cards, etc. Therefore, I am very much in favor of having a photo ID to vote.
