To the editor:
I am writing to lend my support for the MERIT Center and Amateur Sports Center projects on the ballot in November. As Marshall continues to grow as a regional center, these two economic development projects will help our region grow and thrive for years to come.
At Avera Marshall we are recruiting physicians and other medical professionals to live and work in Marshall. Amenities like our strong education system, the Marshall Area YMCA and arts programs like those supported by the Marshall Area Fine Arts Council have helped make our community more attractive to job candidates. The addition of the Amateur Sports Center would be very beneficial as we work to recruit and retain the skilled medical professionals needed to provide care to people of our region. We are a proud supporter of athletics and youth health and wellness activities.
Working collaboratively with emergency services, Avera Marshall would also see benefits from the proposed expansion of the MERIT Center. Expanded training opportunities like those proposed in the MERIT Center expansion will enhance the capabilities of the region's emergency services and allow local access for key safety education.
Avera Marshall has grown jobs and our overall business size because the community has embraced and responded to our vision. I encourage the community to embrace this vision of growth and vote YES on Nov. 6.
