MAFAC supports ‘yes’ vote

October 19, 2012
Marshall Independent

To the editor:

The Marshall Area Fine Arts Council (MAFAC) Board of Directors endorses the upcoming "Vote Yes for Growth" on Nov. 6. As an arts organization we are committed to promoting arts experiences in our community which include a concert series, a downtown arts center, arts exhibits and educational events. Most recently we have partnered with the City of Marshall in the Downtown Mural Project. We celebrate the attention the murals have garnered for our downtown.

Economic development comes in many forms and when we all work together, we can see the big picture. The mural project and Memorial Park add to our sense of pride and draw attention to our downtown. The recent ground breaking for Heritage Pointe Senior Living is a significant development that will support our community and add to our current tax base. Additional attractions are the Sports Mural and Whitney Statue which will be completed next year.

The Amateur Sports Center and the MERIT Center expansion projects will continue to bring new visitors to our community and our Marshall businesses. Please join us in voting Yes to both projects.
