Canby 3, MACCRAY 2

After winning the first two sets of its match against MACCRAY, the Canby volleyball team had to fight off a strong rally by the Wolverines to hold on for a five-set victory Thursday in Clara City. The Lancers won the match 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 26-28, 15-11.

Taylor Gorder had a strong night both offensively and defensively, tallying 18 kills and 28 digs for the Lancers.

Canby's Ricki Kallhoff added 12 kills, Hannah Jessen recorded a team-high 29 digs, and Kristy Schmidt tallied 43 set assists.

Canby improves to 14-8-1 overall and 6-3 in the Camden Conference after picking up its third win in a row. The Lancers are back on the road next Tuesday for a conference match against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

Dawson-Boyd improved its win streak to eight matches with a 25-21, 25-8, 25-8 Camden Conference win over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Thursday in Kerkhoven.

The Blackjacks' Katarina Kuhlmann was 21-for-22 serving with four aces. She also had 10 digs.

Mari Lee had 16 kills and two ace blocks to lead Dawson-Boyd in both categories, while Kylie Schuelke tallied 26 digs, and Justine Flattum had 22 set assists.

The Blackjacks (15-3 overall, 7-2 Camden) will put their win streak on the line Tuesday when they host third-ranked Minneota in Dawson.

Back home after three straight road matches, the Wabasso volleyball team rolled to a sweep of Tomahawk Conference foe Sleepy Eye St. Mary's on Thursday, winning 25-21, 25-17, 25-23.

Desi Kramer had a team-high 12 kills for Wabasso and also went 15 of 15 serving with an ace. Ellen Franta was the top server for the Rabbits on the night, going 21-for-21 with two aces.

Wabasso's Kimberly Frank and Chelsey Guetter each had eight kills, with Guetter added 11 digs, and Frank tallying 15 set assists.

Winners of five straight matches, the Rabbits (13-4 overall, 6-2 Tomahawk) step out of the conference to face Willmar Tuesday in Wabasso.

The Red Rock Central volleyball team picked up its fifth victory in a row to reach .500 on the season thanks to a 25-21, 15-25, 25-22, 25-14 nonconference win over Cedar Mountain/Comfrey Thursday in Morgan.

Chloe Arfsten had a strong night for the Falcons in the win. She went 18 of 19 serving with five aces, and also had 10 kills and a team-high 19 digs.

Katie Larsen led the Falcons with 11 kills, while Fern Engen added two solo ace blocks and one block assist.

RRC moves to 8-8 overall following the victory and will play Southwestern United Tuesday in Okabena.

Murray County Central improved to 6-1 in the Red Rock Conference with a 25-7, 29-27, 25-14 victory over Ellsworth Thursday in Ellsworth.

Kristi Bose had 13 kills and 12 digs for the Rebels. Hannah Schmidt added a team-high 21 digs.

Taylor Schreier also had a solid match for MCC (6-4 overall) with 12 digs, six kills and two ace serves. Paris Thomas led the Rebels with 25 digs, and Lindsey Barritt tallied four ace blocks.

MCC is back on the court Tuesday with a match against Hills-Beaver Creek.

The BOLD Warriors moved to within a win of reaching .500 thanks to a 25-8, 25-12, 25-19 victory over Yellow Medicine East Thursday night in Olivia. The win was BOLD's third straight following a four-match losing streak.

YME got nine kills and an ace block from Chyanne Sand in the loss. Danie Roden and Nena McCalla each had 12 digs for the Sting.

YME drops to 2-19 overall and 1-9 in West Central Conference play following the loss. The Sting will try to bounce back Tuesday with match against Lac qui Parle Valley in Madison.

Paige Erickson had 18 kills, 11 digs and four block assists to help lift the Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball team to a 25-23, 18-25, 25-16, 25-15 win over Southwestern United Thursday in Okabena.

Hailey Osland and Dayna Comnick each had three ace serves for the Chargers, who won their seventh straight match. Osland also had 15 digs, and Comnick tallied nine kills and eight digs.

WWG (17-3 overall, 6-1 RRC) plays Tuesday at home against Mountain Lake.
