On Nov. 6 Marshall has an opportunity to add the next developments to our growing and emerging Regional Center. As a past School Board member, County Commissioner and business owner I have been involved with the growth of Marshall and the surrounding region. Marshall has always been a progressive city with family values in mind. It is nice to have our children or grandchildren grow up close to home, or at least have the choice to do so. We understood the value of getting Southwest Minnesota State University to Marshall. We understood the value of the corn processing plant and the expansion of The Schwan Food Co. These investments have helped our families be successful.
I have been involved in the real estate market in Marshall for several years. I currently serve on the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Board and I help recruit new medical staff to our community. I recognize the attraction that a regional sports center would have for a family looking to relocate to Marshall. The new Marshall High School, the YMCA, our beautiful parks and the 9/11 Memorial are all amenities that aid in attracting new professionals and new families for our schools and will support our work force for our businesses.
Look around folks. Those new restaurants, new clinics, expansion of existing businesses are all happening because we have invested in Marshall. Keep Marshall and southwest Minnesota growing. Join me in voting YES on both projects on Nov. 6.
