Wabasso 3, Lakeview 0

The Wabasso Rabbits had 11 ace serves, five from Kimberly Frank, in a 3-0 victory over the Lakeview Lakers 25-22, 25-17 and 25-17 Monday in Cottonwood.

Frank went 13-for-16 serving, while picking up eight digs and 16 set assists for the Rabbits in the non-conference win. Morgan Frank led the Rabbits on 18 of 18 serving with three aces and Chelsey Guetter was 9-for-9 with three aces.

Guetter also had a team-high 10 kills and three of Wabasso's six ace blocks. Ellen Franta led the Rabbits with nine digs, while Guetter had seven.

Alli Boerboom was 16-for-16 with an ace to lead the Lakers in serving. Brianna Hoffman paced the team with 10 kills, and Madi Nelson had 20 set assists.

Both Lakeview and Wabasso will return to conference play tonight. The Rabbits (11-4 overall, 4-2 Tomahawk Conference) travel to Morgan to face the Cedar Mountain/Comfrey Cougars, whereas the Lakers (9-9, 2-5 Camden Conference) host Central Minnesota Christian.

The fourth-ranked (Class AA) Sauk Centre Mainstreeters moved to 17-0 on the season with a 25-12, 25-13, 25-12 West Central Conference win over Yellow Medicine East Monday in Granite Falls.

Sauk Centre's Jena Klaphake had a stroke night for the Mainstreeters, going 17-for-17 serving with four aces, while also tallying 30 set assists. Ashley Kollman added 11 kills, eight digs and two ace blocks.

The Sting (2-17 overall, 1-7 WCC) got seven kills from Makayla Dyrdahl in the loss, and Danie Roden tallied a team-high nine digs.

YME has another conference match today against Morris Area/Chokio-Albert in Granite Falls.

Area girls tennis

YME advances to quarters of 3A tournament

The Yellow Medicine East girls' tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Section 3A tournament with a 6-1 win over Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd Monday in Granite Falls.

The No. 1 singles match went to LQPV/D-B's Kylie Jahn, who defeated Jordan Glad 6-3, 7-6 (9-7). But from there it was all YME.

The Sting won the other three singles match and all three doubles matches in straight sets and didn't allow their opponents to win more than two games in any set.

YME advances to face Redwood Valley in the quarterfinals. The teams will take the court at 4 p.m. Thursday in Redwood Falls.
