LYON COUNTY - A group of friends and neighbors gathered Friday in a field off Minnesota Highway 19 near the Minneota exit to harvest the soy bean crop of the late Gary Huso.

Huso died suddenly on July 5 and left his estate to Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, according to Lars Johansson.

"The will was read in court two days ago (Wednesday)," Johansson said. "Wayne Skaar, a church trustee, called me and said, 'We've got to get the beans in.' He's out there driving a combine."

Johansson, owner of Johansson's Sales and Service, started calling around and quickly got volunteers to bring combines and trucks to harvest the field.

Huso had 150 acres of corn and beans under cultivation.

"I've been a friend of Gary's for many years," said Jim Myhre, who was driving a grain truck. "Our families grew up together, we were in 4-H together. Wayne called and asked a week ago, and I was more than glad to help."
