WWG 3, Springfield 2

\Westbrook-Walnut Grove improved to 8-1 overall thanks to a five-set victory over Springfield Monday in Springfield. The Chargers came back from down 2-1 to win 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 25-12, 15-12.

Paige Erickson had a solid night for the Chargers in the victory. She was a perfect 21 of 21 from the service line and also had 18 kills and 18 digs (both team highs). Dayna Comnick also had a strong all-around night with 10 kills and 16 digs.

WWG's Abby Herding was 30 of 30 serving with an ace. She also had 41 set assists. Madison Takle, Kelsi Wahl and Hailey Osland each had three ace blocks, with Osland adding 15 kills.

The Chargers play Hills-Beaver Creek Thursday in Hills before they take part in the Jackson County Central tournament over the weekend.

Red Rock Central inched closer to the .500 mark with a sweep of Worthington Monday in Jeffers. The Falcons won the nonconference match 25-20, 25-15, 25-21 to move to 2-3 on the season.

RRC's Katie Larson was 19 of 20 serving with two ace serves and two ace blocks. Tegan Derickson added eight kills and three ace blocks, Fern Engen led the Falcons with 12 kills, and Chloe Arfsten had a team-high 20 digs.

The Falcons return to Red Rock Conference play Thursday with a match against Murray County Central in Slayton.

The Lakeview volleyball team stepped out of conference and defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary's 3-1 on Monday in Cottonwood. The Lakers took the match with scores of 25-20, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-18.

Lakeview's Brianna Hoffman had four ace serves, eight kills and two ace blocks in the match. Tegan VanMoer led the Lakers' attack with 14 kills. Hailey Matthys led Lakeview with 25 digs, while Kana Barker tallied 22 set assists.

Lakeview (6-3 overall) returns to Camden Conference action today with a match against Lincoln HI in Ivanhoe.
