ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

1.1 PROJECT INFORMATION

A. Notice to Bidders: Qualified bidders may submit bids for project as described in this Document. Submit bids according to the Instructions to Bidders.

B. Project Identification: C1251 Canby Community Hospital District Chiller Replacement Project.

F. Project Description: Project consists of replacement of rooftop air-cooled chiller, along with distribution piping and pumping upgrades.

G. Construction Contract: Bids will be received for the following Work:

1. It is assumed that a mechanical contractor will be prime.

a. The proposal of each bidder shall include the name and address of his successful General Construction subcontractor and Electrical Construction subcontractor.

1.2 BID SUBMITTAL AND OPENING

A. Owner will receive sealed lump sum bids until the bid time and date at the location given below. Owner will consider bids prepared in compliance with the Instructions to Bidders issued by Owner, and delivered as follows:

1. Bid Date: September 25, 2012.

2. Bid Time: 2:00 p.m. local time.

3. Location: Canby Community Hospital District, %Bob Salmon, 112 St. Olaf Avenue S., Canby, MN 56220.

B. Bids will be thereafter publicly opened and read.

1.3 BID SECURITY

A. Bid security shall be submitted with each bid in the amount of 5 percent of the bid amount. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of 30 days after opening of bids. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities.

1.4 PRE-BID MEETING

A. Pre-bid Meeting: A pre-bid meeting for all bidders will be held at Canby Community Hospital District on September 18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., local time. Prospective prime bidders are requested to attend.

1.5 DOCUMENTS

A. Printed Procurement and Contracting Documents: Obtain after September 4, 2012, by contacting Owner. Only complete sets of documents will be issued.

1. Refundable Deposit: $50.00 made payable to Horty Elving & Associates, Inc.

a. This deposit will be returned in full to the General Construction Bidders and the sub-bidders for Fire Suppression Construction, Mechanical Construction, and Electrical Construction provided a bonafide bid is submitted in time and the Bidding Documents are returned in good condition within 10 days of bid date.

2. Shipping and Handling Fee: Additional shipping and handling charges of $40.00 made payable to Horty Elving & Associates, Inc. will apply. Provide separate means of payment from deposit.

3. Preferred Means of Contact: Request documents via faxed or mailed "request for documents." Provide name of firm, contact person, email address, shipping address, and phone number. Fax "request for documents" to Horty Elving at (612) 344-1282. Documents will be shipped upon receipt of payment for refundable deposit and shipping and handling fee.

B. Viewing Procurement and Contracting Documents: Examine after September 4, 2012, at the offices of the Owner, Architect, and at the plan rooms and builders exchanges locations below:

1.6 TIME OF COMPLETION

A. Successful bidder shall begin the Work on receipt of the Notice to Proceed and shall complete the Work within the Contract Time of 160 days.

1.7 BIDDER'S QUALIFICATIONS

A. Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws governing their respective trades and be able to obtain insurance and bonds required for the Work.

1. (A Performance Bond, separate Labor and Material Payment Bond, and Insurance in a form acceptable to Owner will be required of the successful Bidder.)

a. (Bonds shall be the latest edition of AIA Document A312 in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) Performance and one hundred percent (100%) Payment.)

B. A properly executed Contractor's Qualification Statement AIA Document A305, will be required of the General Construction Contractor and may be required of the Mechanical Construction, Electrical Construction, and Fire Protection subcontractors after bids are received and the apparent low bidder determined; these shall be submitted to the Architect for review with the Owner.
