Landon Erickson's seventh inning grand slam capped off a five-run inning and ended a 14-1 rout of the Leavenworth Orioles by the Lamberton Long Sox in seven innings Tuesday in Region 2C play.
Erickson finished the game 3-for-4 with the grand slam and five RBIs.
The Long Sox jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first two innings, and Colby Pack's three-run home run in the fifth propelled Lamberton to an 8-0 lead. Pack went 4-for-4 in the game with a home run and five RBIs.
Leavenworth got its only run in the game in the top of the sixth, but Lamberton immediately answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. Lamberton led 10-1 before Erickson's grand slam sent both teams home for the night.
Pitching for the Long Sox was Allen Woitas, a draftee from Sleepy Eye. Woitas picked up the win, striking out seven Oriole batters over seven innings. Dusty Fleck, a draftee from Essig, picked up the loss for the Orioles in 5-plus innings of work.
The Long Sox committed four errors in the game, but also had 17 total hits. Four Lamberton batter finished the game 2-for-3 from the plate. Johnny Pistulka, Mike Wotschke, Donald Strand, and Isaac Jenniges each had a pair of hits in the overwhelming Long Sox performance.
The Long Sox move to 3-0 in regional play and prepare to face the New Ulm Brewers at 8 p.m. tonight in New Ulm.
