The Lamberton Long Sox opened up Region 2C play with a pair of wins. Lamberton defeated Stark 8-2 Saturday in Lamberton, then went on the road to beat St. James 4-1 on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Long Sox used two-run innings in the first and the second to jump out to a 4-1 lead. Lamberton blew the game open in the eighth when it tacked on four more runs.
Johnny Pistulka got the win for the Long Sox, allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and eight walks over eight innings. He helped his own cause by going 2-for-5 from the plate and added a double.
Colby Pack and Mike Wotschke each went 2-for-4 for Lamberton. Pack had two RBIs, and Wotschke scored twice.
After the win, the Long Sox moved on to play St. James on Sunday in St. James. Lamberton held St. James scoreless until the ninth inning and won 4-1. Derrick Jenniges struck out 12 batter in his complete-game victory. Jenniges allowed just one run on five hits and one walk.
Pistulka continued to hit the ball well for the Long Sox, going 2-for-4 Sunday with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Landon Erickson also went 2-for-4, chipping in two doubles and an RBI.
Lamberton will next play host to Leavenworth on Tuesday night.
