The Murray County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the person killed in a boating accident at 12:28 a.m. Sunday on Lake Shetek.

Perry James Altermatt, 49, of Lamberton was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff's office said Monday. Two others on the boat, Tamra Jo Altermatt, 49, and Miranda Frankie Altermatt, 19, both of Lamberton, were transported to the Murray County Medical Center.

Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders found a 21-foot Fiberglass boat wedged under the bridge at Valhalla Road. The sheriff's office said the person who called the accident in said the boat was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the bridge.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.

The Murray County Ambulance, Currie Fire Department, Lake Shetek First Responders, State Patrol and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assisted at the scene.
