CANBY - Dennis and Sherry Kern of Porter announce the engagement of their daughter, Marissa Kern, to Jared Goplen, son of Gary and Kari Goplen of Canby. Kern is a 2011 graduate of Augustana College and is in her second year of dental school at the University of Minnesota. Goplen is a 2012 graduate of Augustana College and is pursuing a master's degree in agronomy at the University of Minnesota. The couple plans an Aug. 4, 2012, wedding at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Canby.
