LAKE?PRESTON, S.D. - Services for Charles "Chuck" O. Jones, 83, of Lake Preston will be at 10:30 am, Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in DeSmet, S.D. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel in Lake Preston and preceding services in the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Lake Preston Cemetery.
He died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at the DeSmet Good Samaritan Center in DeSmet, S.D.
He was born Sept. 14, 1928, to Arden and Ruth (Blanchford) Jones at rural St. Lawrence in Hand County, S.D. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 28, 1946 and was stationed in Korea and discharged in the spring of 1948.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian of Lake Preston; three sons, Art of Garretson, S.D., Arden of Hartford, S.D., Roger of Lake Preston, S.D.; a daughter Gayle Birath of Marshall; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a sister, Elsie Hancock of Ree Heights, S.D.
