Marcela Sanchez-Aizcorbe has joined the Independent newsroom as a summer intern.
Sanchez-Aizcorbe, born in Peru, will be a senior at Marshall High School this year. She moved to Marshall from Texas four years ago.
Sanchez-Aizcorbe is a member of the Marshall girls' swim team and is also involved in Youth As Resources, the National Honor Society and is a Peer Helper.
She plans to attend either NYU or the University of Texas after high school.
Sanchez-Aizcorbe's internship at the Independent is part of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Pohlad Family Foundation Summer Youth Employment Program.
