Milroy Yankees 2, Tracy 1

The Milroy Yankees pitchers piled up strikeouts in a 2-1 win over the Tracy Express Wednesday night in Milroy.

Yankees starter Nathan Deutz worked the first five inning, during which he struck out 11 batters. Matt Bauer entered the game and pitched through the eighth inning. He struck out the first seven batters he faced and earned the win. Josh Hadley came on in the ninth and earned the save.

Tracy scored in the first inning on an RBI triple by Calvin Kosminskas, who was also the Express' starter.

After picking up the tying run in the fourth, the Yankees got the go-ahead run in the seventh when Dean Zwach led off the inning with a triple and Brian Dolan drove him in with a single to right.

The Yankees (1-0 overall) play their next game on Friday in New Ulm against the New Ulm Brewers.

Tracy (2-3) plays at Dawson on Saturday.

Lamberton 7, Heron Lake 5

The Lamberton Long Sox picked up their fourth straight win to start the season, topping Heron Lake 7-5 Wednesday night in Lamberton.

Mike Wotschke had a big night at the plate for the Long Sox, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Colby Pack and Landon Erickson each went 2-for-4 with an RBI to help Lamberton's cause.

Jacob Jenniges tossed the first five inning for Lamberton, striking out eight batters. He earned the win. Shane Schoborg threw the next three before Derrick Jenniges came on in the ninth to pick up the save.

The Long Sox (4-0) take the field again Sunday with a doubleheader in Gibbon.

Stark, Milroy Irish 4

In an exhibition game on Wednesday, Stark put away with Milroy Irish for a 9-4 victory at home.

Isaac Dolan accounted for two of the Irish's four hits, including a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning.

Milroy is back in play on Friday, traveling to Springfield.
