MARSHALL - A male thought to be waving a weapon was held at gunpoint by a police officer in an incident Tuesday, Marshall Police said. The male was released when it was determined he was holding a wooden stake, and not a knife.
An officer responded to reports of a male subject waving a knife at traffic on East Main Street near Southview Drive on Tuesday morning, said Marshall Police Sgt. Jim Marshall. When the officer arrived at the scene, the male was holding an object that appeared to be a knife, Marshall said. Marshall said the officer asked the male to put down the object, and held the male at gunpoint until backup arrived. Officers were able to handcuff the male and determine the object he had been holding was a wooden stake, Marshall said.
The male was released and no arrests were made, Marshall said.
