The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team shot an opening round score of 351 on Monday and sits in a tie for 12th place in the 36-hole, 20-team Texas A&M-Commerce Invitational at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Texas.
Tarleton State (Texas) holds the first-round lead after posting a team score of 312, which is six shots better than second-place West Texas A&M.
Arkansas Tech's Rebecka Surtevall and Central Oklahoma's Chaney Uhles share the first-round individual lead after each golfer posted a score of 73.
SMSU's top score came from Krista Weiszhaar, who sits in a tie for 29th after shooting a 10-over round of 82. KC Kane had the Mustangs' next-best score, carding an 87. She is in a tie for 46th. Abby Gruber shot an 89 and is tied for 62nd, and Marissa Campeau is tied for 76th after shooting a first-round score of 91.
The final round of the tournament begins today at 8:30 a.m.
