To the editor:
As the 2011 Lyon County Salvation Army Kettle Campaign comes to a close, our thoughts turn to gratitude as we think of those who have helped make this a successful campaign.
We are pleased to inform you that the Kettle Campaign raised $28,000. This is a $10,000 increase over last year. These dollars will assist Lyon County residents in need with emergency and/or temporary rent, lodging, electrical and gas utilities, transportation, vehicle repairs, gas and medical needs. The list goes on.
Our sincere thanks to the kettle site hosts: Hy-Vee, County Fair, Shopko and Kmart. Thank you also to Marshall Broadcasting and Marshall Independent for local media support.
It is with the generosity and support of the community that we had a successful campaign. Each person's contribution made a difference, so if you dropped dimes, quarters, dollars or a check into the kettles, thank you! A lot of credit for this increase goes to the volunteer bell ringers. Your time was critical to this success!
It is with sincere gratitude we say "Thank You!"
