Grace Life Church
Grace Life Church is celebrating 42 years of ministry and our fifth year in our new location at 601 E. College Drive (in the old East Side Grade School building.) Two of our previous buildings at 416 W. Main Street and 305 Camden Drive are still serving as churches reaching out to the Hispanic community.
We invite the community to a multi-purpose celebration beginning at 4 p.m Sunday, July 24, with a picnic in the green space. From 4-6 p.m. we will provide pulled pork sandwiches, chips, beans, watermelon, ice cream and drinks with activities for younger children from 5-6 p.m. in the green space. At 6 p.m. the Alternative worship team will lead us in a time of praise followed by a time of sharing our stories. Other special music groups will celebrate with us as well.
Our desire is to honor the Lord for all He has done for us and through us over these past many years. We also want to say thanks and show our appreciation to the community for their support and encouragement that has allowed us to receive the privilege of becoming stewards of our current building, play areas, and green space. We would enjoy for you to come see and hear what the Lord has done. Take a tour through the facility and see the changes made and hear the stories of how the Lord has worked.
We give thanks to the Lord for giving us this building and property in the heart of the city and also given us a heart for the city and surrounding communities. The space has allowed us to better accomplish our missions from the Lord of finding ways to strengthen the body of Christ wherever we see opportunities. We have always supported and provided space for the Marshall Area Christian School and have now made it possible for them to be on one campus under one roof. It also has made possible for them to start a preschool which will be expanding again this fall. The space has allowed room for Western Community Action to return and continue its Head Start program to the Marshall community. The tennis courts, ball diamond, and green space continue to be enjoyed by the surrounding neighbors and community at large.
The extra class room space has allowed us to continue fulfilling our motto of "loving people into lasting relationships" through our very practical spiritual, bible based support group called "The Most Excellent Way." They have been meeting for more than nine years now to help all those hindered by their habits, hurts, or hang-ups negatively affecting their relationships with God, family, friends, employers or themselves.
Classroom space is made available for House of Hope staff, girls and their families for counseling and parenting classes. Many times the girls are able to enjoy the weekly chapel services with the Marshall Area Christian School as well in the gym on Friday mornings.
We will have a time of recognition for our fourth senior pastor Bernie Wing, who will be retiring at the end of July. The Rev. Wing has been an elder since 1980 and the senior leader at Grace Life Church for the past 25 years. He will continue to be available for service but will be focusing on other endeavors the Lord has for him to do. Things like working with the newly formed Legacy Foundation ministering to the business community of Marshall. He will also continue to provide on-call chaplain support to the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center and remain an active participant in the Marshall Area Ministerial Association. He also will travel to support and encourage pastors in some of the other churches connected to our network of churches in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Please come and celebrate with us on Sunday evening of July 24th as we honor God for the past and continue looking to God for the future for all He has yet for us to do.
