COUNTY BOARD OF APPEALS & EQUALIZATION

LYON COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER, MARSHALL, MN

June 14, 2011 Meeting was called to order by Chairman Fenske at 6:30 p.m.

Members present: Anderson, Fenske, Goodenow, Ritter, Stensrud and Auditor/Treasurer VanOverbeke.

Others present: Assessor Champine, Assistant Assessor Runholt and Administrator Stomberg.

No individuals appeared at county board to appeal values or classification.

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

VanOverbeke gave the oath of office.

Fenske turned the meeting over to Assessor Champine.

Champine went over the valuation data, sales data, local board of appeals and equalization changes that were made at the local level.

Champine explained that the Department of Revenue has new rules for calculation of ag land. With the new rules we may be forced in increase value again.

Champine will be attending the State Board of Appeals next week.

Discussion on values throughout the county.

Anderson updated the board on Kids World in Tracy wanting to be tax exempt. This board cannot make any property tax exempt that is up to the Assessor. Champine has denied tax exemption and has been in contact with the Department of Revenue.

Meeting adjourned at 7:07 p.m.
