Avera Marshall announces April Spirit of Excellence award winner
Bonnie Parsons, RN, Medical/Surgical Unit and Labor & Delivery Unit, has been chosen to receive the "Spirit of Excellence" Award for April 2011 from Avera Marshall. Each month the award is given to an employee who demonstrates the medical center's values of compassion, hospitality and stewardship. Parsons has worked at Avera Marshall since October 2009.
North Star Mutual Insurance promotes two
North Star Mutual Insurance of Cottonwood recently announced the promotion of Amy Herrick to senior underwriter for the Auto Underwriting Department.
She began employment in June of 1993 and served as an underwriter for the Auto Underwriting Department prior to her promotion.
Herrick and her husband, Korey, live in Wood Lake, with their children Korysa, Makenzie, and Logan.

ACMC doctor elected president of MAFP
The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians installed Alan Olson, M.D., as president of the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians April 14 during its 65th annual meeting.
Olson is a family physician with Affiliated Community Medical Centers in Redwood Falls. As president, he will serve as the official representative and spokesperson for the MAFP, be a member of the Board of Directors and will chair the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, in addition to promoting the ideals and concepts of family medicine.
Kremer, Odland attend spring refresher course in St. Paul
William Kremer, M.D., and Thomas Odland, M.D., attended the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians' annual springer refresher session April 14 and April 15 in St. Paul. The conference gives family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students the opportunity to learn about trends in caring for patients and their families.
