Hello Mustang fans!
When will it end?! I am ready for spring weather and the opportunity to watch Mustang baseball, golf, softball and tennis in 70 degree temperatures and clear blue skies. I will even take the 10-to-20 mile per hour winds of Southwestern Minnesota as long as it comes with shorts and short-sleeve shirts.
As the high school basketball season concludes this weekend up in the Twin Cities, we will have one more great opportunity for the basketball fans of southwestern Minnesota as we host the world famous Harlem Globetrotters in two weeks.
The SMSU athletics department is proud to announce that the Harlem Globetrotters 2011 "4 Times the Fun" North American tour will make an appearance in Marshall on April 6 at the R/A Facility on the campus of SMSU. This game-changing innovation will be on display when the Globetrotters take on the Washington Generals, starting at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.. Tickets, starting at $25, are on sale now by calling the SMSU athletics office at (507) 537-7271 or at www.ticketweb.com. Information on group and scout tickets can also be found at www.harlemglobetrotters.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate prior to tip-off.
The Harlem Globetrotters, who have contributed more innovations to the game of basketball than any other team in history, have implemented the first-ever four-point shot as part of all of its games on the team's record 85th season of touring. The Globetrotters last played in Marshall on April 7, 2003.
The SMSU baseball team (4-6 overall) is scheduled to open conference play this Saturday and Sunday with a four-game series versus Concordia-St. Paul in Minnetonka. The Mustangs have now had five games canceled this spring.
