age 75 of St. Leo

ST. LEO - Mass of Christian Burial for Marie Antony, 75, of St. Leo, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Leo Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Birk Funeral Home in Canby with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and a Rosary to follow. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9-10 am at the church. Burial will be in St. Leo Catholic Cemetery.

She died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Marie Florence Stienessen was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Eidsvold Township, Lyon County, to John and Mary (DeCock) Stienessen. As a young girl, she attended rural country school and St. Edward's Catholic school. She graduated from Minneota High School in 1953. After high school, she worked at the Gamble's store in Minneota. She and Francis Antony were married Oct. 29, 1957, at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Minneota, which was a double wedding ceremony, with her twin sister, Marian, getting married to Germain Hoffmann. The newly married couple made their home on a farm northwest of St. Leo for five years and then moved two miles east to another farm which is where she resided at the time of her death.

Once her children were old enough, Marie went to work outside the home and worked at Schott's for 10 years and most recently, she worked at the Canby Bakery. Some of Marie's hobbies were bowling, fishing, playing cards, playing Scrabble, Bingo, going to the casino, camping and most importantly spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her spouse, Francis of St. Leo; children, Brian (and Francine) Antony and their children, Austin and Connor of Lonsdale; Mark (and Karla) Antony and their children, Aaron, Sara and Jared of Marshall; Corey Antony of Marshall; Lisa (and Jason) Thomas and their children, Xander and Cordelia of West St. Paul; Linda Antony and her children, Josephine and Lucas of Chaska; Jason (and Jill) Antony and their children, Taylor, Easton and Ryder of Lake Crystal; Laura (and Mike) Whiteis and their child, Grace, of Mayer; grandson, Darrin Antony (son of Greg and Lorri) of Everett, Wash.; brother, Laurence (and Maryann) Stienessen of Minneota; sister, Gerri (and Willie) Schmidt of Dawson; sister, Marian (and Germain) Hoffmann; brother, Harold (and Fran) Stienessen of Minneota; and brother, Leonard Stienessen of Minneota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Greg; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jeanne Stienessen; and sister-in-law, Julaine Stienessen.
