Girls Basketball

Division I

Macie Michelson (South Dakota State, Sr., G, Marshall)

Starting in 10 of South Dakota State's 15 games this season, the Lynd native is averaging 5.0 points per game in 20.3 minutes. In seven conference games, Michelson is fourth on the Jackrabbits, averaging 7.3 points per game. This season, SDSU is 4-5 in the Summit League, 8-12 overall. At Marshall, Michelson scored 2,131 career points and was a finalist for Miss Basketball. She was also a four-time All-Area selection and Independent Area Player of the Year in 2007.

Division II

Natalie Giese (Western State (Colo.), Jr., F, Canby): 15 GS, 5.5 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 16 steals, 22.2 MPG.

Brett Newton (Northern State, Jr., G, RTR)

Coming off the bench in seven games this season for Northern State, Newton is averaging 4.1 points per game, and has 13 assists compared to 10 turnovers in 17.0 minutes per game. Coming into the weekend, the Wolves are 3-10 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, 7-10 overall. At Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, the Tyler native was a two-time Independent Area Player of the Year.

Division III

Zach Meyer (Minn.-Morris, Jr., F, Lakeview): 10 GS, 27 GP, 8.5 PPG, 44.1 shooting percentage, 4.6 RPG, 26 steals.

Wheelchair Basketball

Kyle Timmerman (SMSU, Jr., Minneota): 14 GP, 8.9 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 58 assists, 52 steals, 42.5 shooting percentage.


Division II

Tad Merritt (St. Cloud State, R-Jr., 165, Canby)

A two-time All-American at St. Cloud State, Merritt is 25-3 with 11 pinfalls this season for the Huskies. Coming into Friday, Merritt is ranked No. 2 in the country at 165 pounds, behind Mike Williams of North Carolina-Pembroke, while St. Cloud State is ranked No. 3. As a Lancer, Merritt was a two-time state champion, held a record of 176-32 with 116 pins, and was on the Wrestling USA scholastic All-America team.

Martin Hagen (SMSU, So., 197, YME): 9-8, 1 pin.

A.J. Jenniges (SMSU, So., 133, Wabasso): 2-2.
