Winter Meltdown celebrated at SMSU
Southwest Minnesota State University will celebrate Winter Meltdown with a series of campus events Jan. 24-29.
Winter Meltdown is an SMSU tradition, a time for students, faculty and staff to participate in fun activities to help beat the "winter blues."
The week is culminated by the traditional Hawaiian Night basketball doubleheader Saturday, Jan. 29, against Winona State. Game times are 6 and 8 p.m., respectively.
This year's events include Minnesota West-Pipestone Massage and Salon program students giving haircuts, massages and manicures; Live at the Landing musical artists, the Nearly Naked Mile, movies and a chili cook-off.

Monday, Jan. 24: Make Your Own Leis, Student Center lower level, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 25: Mentalist James David, Conference Center lower level, 9 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 26: Spa Day, Minnesota West-Pipestone salon and massage program students, Student Center upper level, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.; Movie, "It's Kind of a Funny Story," Conference Center lower level, 7 and 9 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 27: Live @ The Landing, Joe Bakken, acoustic folk rock, 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m.; Live @ The Landing Jam, Matt Corey, saxophone, 5-6 p.m.; Nearly Naked Mile, R/A Facility lobby, 7:30 p.m.; dance, Conference Center Ballroom, 9 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 28: Women's basketball vs. Upper Iowa, 6 p.m.; movie, "It's Kind of a Funny Story," Conference Center lower level, 7 p.m.; men's basketball vs. Upper Iowa, 8 p.m.; movie, "It's Kind of a Funny Story, Conference Center lower level, 9 p.m.
