The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team won a triangular Wednesday in Sioux Falls, S.D., defeating the University of Sioux Falls and the Wayne State (Neb.) club team. The Mustangs shut out Wayne State 58-0 and then took down USF 27-10.
SMSU wrestlers recorded seven pins against Wayne State in a dominant victory before a more competitive match against the Cougars. Travis Borchert lost the first match for SMSU at 125 pounds in a close 8-7 decision before the Mustangs took control, winning seven of the next eight matches.
The Mustangs will return to action Saturday when they head to the Buena Vista Open in Storm Lake, Iowa.
