Meyer awarded scholarship at Minnesota West
Brianna Meyer of Marshall on receiving a scholarship through the Canby Campus Foundation of Minnesota West Community and Technical College. She has been selected to receive a $500 Dental Assisting Scholarship. The Canby Campus Foundation awards only three Dental Assisting Scholarships to incoming students each year and is based heavily on High School GPA. Meyer will be a student on the Canby Campus of Minnesota West Community and Technical College this coming Fall pursuing a degree in dental assisting. She is the daughter of Bill Meyer and Penny Meyer, both of Marshall, and a 2009 graduate of Marshall Senior High School.
West receives scholarship
South Central College's North Mankato Campus Foundation provided more than $178,000 in scholarships to 234 freshmen and sophomore students during the college's annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony Aug. 31.

Welu awarded scholarship at SDSU
Brady Welu of Milroy was awarded the Dale L. Bidwell Ag-Engineering Scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D.
Welu is a freshman majoring in ag engineering at SDSU. He is the son of John and Theresa Welu of Milroy and is a 2010 Marshall High School graduate.
Koster to participate in white coat ceremony
Micaela Koster, the daughter of Roger and Joan Koster of Marshall, participated in the White Coat Ceremony Sept. 18 at North Dakota State University. She is a student in NDSU's Doctor of Pharmacy program.
Students receive a white coat symbolizing his or her duty to patients and colleagues as they enter the pharmacy profession.
She is active in Kappa Psi pharmaceutical fraternity and intramural basketball and volleyball.
Minnesota West dental assisting program awarded accreditation
Minnesota West Community and Technical College announces the Dental Assisting program has again been awarded Accreditation by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation. The accreditation process includes a comprehensive self-analysis of resources, curriculum, policies and operational standards and on-site interviews with administrators, instructors, staff and students to ensure that the program meets accreditation standards. Accredited programs receive a follow-up site review every seven years.
Minnesota West, Pipestone Campus ranked among top 50
A national publication has ranked six two-year colleges in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system among the top 50 community colleges in the country. The annual ranking of "America's Best Colleges" was published in the September/October issue of Washington Monthly magazine, which has been ranking community colleges since 2007.
Minnesota West Community & Technical College, Pipestone campus ranked 30 on the list of Top Community Colleges in the Country.
The rankings are based on data provided by the Community College Survey of Student Engagement, established by the Community College Leadership Program at The University of Texas at Austin, and graduation data from the U.S. Department of Education. Student engagement data comes from surveys of students at about 650 community colleges.
