Another successful Relay

August 26, 2010

To the editor:

On behalf of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Lyon County Feat at the Fairgrounds, I want to send out a huge thank you to the community for the support we've seen over the past few months and for coming out to the Relay to show your support for our honorary chairs, our cancer survivors, all Relay For Life teams and participants and the Relay Committee

Thank you to the businesses who contributed through in-kind or monetary donations, all which helped to add to the success of the event.

Thank you to our Relay participants; we had twenty-two teams this year. We're so thankful to you for becoming advocates of Relay and helping to raise money for a great cause.

We couldn't have had such a great Relay 2010 without the support of everyone listed above.

We raised more than $88,000 this year, which goes toward cancer research, patient services, education, early detection and prevention. Forty-six percent of all dollars raised stay in the county toward early detection, prevention and patient services, while 33 percent of dollars go toward finding a cure.

It's never too early to start thinking about Relay 2011. If you're interested in starting a team and would like more information or if you'd like to know how you can get more involved and join the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Lyon County Feat at the Fairgrounds committee, contact our American Cancer Society partner, Jennifer Evans, at Jennifer.Evans@Cancer.Org.

In partnership with the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, Lyon County is celebrating a world with more birthdays.

Although many people think of birthdays as a reminder that they're getting older, at the American Cancer Society, every birthday is a victory. Because a world with more birthdays is a world with less cancer - and that's definitely something to celebrate!
