North Star promotion

North Star Mutual Insurance of Cottonwood recently announced the promotion of Jay Kleven.

Kleven began employment with North Star in July of 2007. Prior to his promotion to claims representative for the Property/Casualty Claims Department, he served in the capacity of assistant claims representative for the same department.

Kleven lives near Dawson.

Vlaminck elected chairman of MEA board of directors

The Minnesota Electrical Association had its first quarter board meeting April 13 and 14 in Minneapolis. Patrick Vlaminck of Vlaminck Electric was elected chairman of MEA's board of directors.

His company is located in Porter. He has served the electrical contracting industry by having positions on the government action and safety committees and the board of directors before being elected chairman of the board.

Knights of Columbus recognizes Myhre as Top Producer

Seth Myhre, a field agent with the Knights of Columbus, was recently honored as Agent of the Month for June in the Jelinek Agency in southern Minnesota.

He has been an agent since October 2009 and serves Knights of Columbus families in Minneota, Marshall, Tracy, Ivanhoe, Canby, Tyler/Lake Benton and surrounding area.

Jonti-Craft products certified as safe for environment

Jonti-Craft announces that all of its products and materials are now GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified and GREENGUARD Children & SchoolsSM Certified.

The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is a third-party organization that certifies products for low chemical emissions, which reduces the amount of volatile organic compounds found in indoor air.

All certified products must meet chemical emissions standards based on established criteria from public health agencies. Jonti-Craft's achievement is unique as more than 3,000 SKUs obtained GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification, and did so without having to make adjustments to the material supply or processes.

Two QuickBooks seminars offered

QuickBooks seminars will be offered in Willmar Aug. 2 and in Hutchinson Aug. 4.

The seminars, sponsored by the Minnesota Small Business Development Centers and the Southwest Initiative Foundation, will be led by instructor Tammy Lauer, a certified QuickBooks pro adviser.

The Willmar seminar will be from 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, in the Kandiyohi Health & Human Services Building. Registration deadline is July 30.

The Hutchinson seminar will be from 6:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4 in the Southwest Initiative Foundation building. Registration deadline is Aug. 2.

Cost for each seminar is $49. Registration is required, and can be made at: www.sbdc.eventbrite.com

Seminar topics will include the benefits of QuickBooks, getting started, setting up QuickBooks, working with lists, setting up customers, creating invoices and setting up a bank account.
