Burger honored at awards ceremony

Keith Burger, the general manager of Turkey Valley Farms, was one of the "Person of the Year" honorees at Urner Barry's 34th annual Executive Conference and Marketing Seminar recently. The honor is bestowed upon individuals who have improved the efficiencies of food production, marketing and distribution and who have received universal respect from their colleagues.

The Poultry Person of the Year was awarded to Burger who started in the turkey industry business in 1969.

Avera Marshall announces April Spirit of Excellence Award Winner

Erin Muck, RN, ER manager/trauma coordinator, has been chosen to receive the "Spirit of Excellence" Award for April 2010 from Avera Marshall. Each month the award is given to an employee who demonstrates the medical center's values of compassion, hospitality and stewardship.

Muck has worked at Avera Marshall since December 2001.

Harold St. In Marshall, 1-4 p.m., third Thursday of each month, Lyon County Courthouse, 607 W. Main, 3rd Floor. In Slayton, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., fourth Wednesday of each month, Murray County Courthouse Building, 2848 Broadway Ave.

There is no charge to participants but registration is requested.
