Foster care, adoption open house April 17 at St. Stephen

Anyone interested in learning more about foster care and adoption can stop in at an informational open house from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 1301 S. 4th St. in Marshall.

Lincoln, Lyon and Murray Human Services staff, foster parents, and a representative from the Hispanic community will be on hand with literature and answers to questions.

Interested parties can attend to get information, with no obligation to follow through, though information on the licensing process will be available for those interested in taking the next step.

The event is sponsored by Lincoln, Lyon and Murray Human Services in conjunction with area places of worship.

Hospice memorial service April 11 at SMSU

The Prairie Home Hospice Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at the Southwest Minnesota State Campus Religious Center, 1418 State St. All community members are invited to attend. Hospice patients who died between April, 2009, and March, 2010, will be honored and remembered by families, friends and hospice staff during a candle-lighting ceremony. The Memorial Service is an opportunity to remember these loved ones and to celebrate their lives.

Special music will be provided during the service. There will be time to greet one another while sharing light refreshments after the service.

Pancake brunch April 11 at Christ United

A pancake brunch will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at Christ United Presbyterian Church in Marshall to benefit the Parish Nurse Program. The breakfast is sponsored by Ashford Presbyterian Church of Milroy, Grace/First Parish of Russell and Christ United Presbyterian Church of Marshall. The church is located at 400 W. Lyon in Marshall. A free-will offering will be taken.

St. Eloi annual social night April 11

St. Eloi annual social night is Sunday, April 11. Social time starts at 6 p.m. and the meal is served at 6:30 p.m. The menu includes hors d'oeuvres, green salad, pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and dessert. The cost is $20. Entertainment will be provided by Kayla Daniels. RSVP by Monday by calling Tom and Vickie Bot at 428-3430 or Cory and Amber Crowley at 532-5089.
