SLAYTON -Services for Walter "Pete" Riener Bruns, 86, of Slayton will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church Slayton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial is at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton. Military honors accorded by the Iona VFW Post 9680. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton in charge of arrangements.
He died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at the Golden Living Center-Slayton.
He was born July 8, 1923, on the family farm near Avoca to Henry and Jesse Ebbinga Bruns. In March 1945 he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan.
Survivors include his siblings: Dick of Walnut Grove, George of Fulda, Fannie of Fulda, and Harry of Brookings, S.D.
