The meaning of Christmas

POSTED: December 1, 2009

To the editor:

In a short time we will have the Christmas holiday.

In our society Christmas shopping is a real tradition for sure. We like to give nice gifts to our children and loved ones of all ages. This is good!

Now we should be aware of the real meaning of Christmas. The real truth is that God sent his only Son to be born in Bethlehem. The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary by God's hand and spiritual powers made this possible. This was God's greatest gift to mankind. His son grew up teaching the Gospel to people on earth. In the end he was crucified and died for all our sins. He made it so we are forgiven and can have eternal life with "God the Father."

Let us thank and praise God!

Ronald Mosch

Ah yes - the true meaning of christmas, as celebrated on Dec.25th, originally known as the Feast of Saturnalia (dedicated to the Sun God Rah by the heathins). Read deuteronomy 12:29-31.

Mr. Mosch~ I am not sure which of the miraculous events you are referring to as the greatest gift of God to mankind: The Immaculate Conception of Mary or the birth of Jesus through the virgin Mary? the Immaculate Conception is the teaching of the Catholic Church that Mary was born without original sin, a doctrine that even Martin Luther accepted.... but which many Protestants and Lutherans reject; one of which is Jim Anderson.
