TYLER - Services for Leon D. Schnell, 85, of Tyler, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tyler. Visitation is from 4:30-7 p.m. today with prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Hartquist Funeral Home, Utoft-Johansen Chapel in Tyler. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Danebod Cemetery in Tyler.
He died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Renvilla Nursing Home in Renville.
He was born April 15, 1924, to William and Johanna (Brown) Schnell in Tyler. On June 18, 1943, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the 389th Bombardment Squadron as an armorer gunner, stationed in New Guinea. He was honorably discharged Jan. 6, 1946.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sons, William of Grand Rapids and Robert of Lake Crystal; his step-children, Laurie Thielen of Sacred Heart, Valerie Krogstad of Marshall and Cheryl Willert of Rosemount; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
