DAWSON - Services for Theodore "Ted" Schmitt, 93, of Dawson, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. James Catholic Church in Dawson. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today, at St. James Catholic Church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery in rural Dawson. Arrangements are with Hanson and Dahl Funeral Home of Dawson. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to Minneapolis Children's Hospital or Catholic Aid Association.

He died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson.

He was born July 14, 1916, to Michael and Elizabeth (Lanners) Schmitt in Omro Township of Yellow Medicine County.

Survivors include his wife, Gabe of Dawson; children, Carolyn Drietz of Brandon, Shirley Bukowski of Boyd, Mike of Marshall, Leo of Willmar, Alice Krantz of Tucson, Ariz., Dave of Clarkfield, Andy of Boyd, Rose Collins of Montevideo, Pat Anderson of Montevideo, Marie Yackel of Ramsey and Judy Larson of Ham Lake; 32 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brothers, John of St. Leo and Willie of Dawson; sister, Sister Laura of Good Council in Mankato.
